Mildred I. (Milly) Peabody

Sunfield – Mildred (Milly) Ione Peabody passed away on January 5th, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born on theĀ  Peabody Farm in Sunfield on May 11th, 1926, a daughter of Lynn and Bernice Peabody. She attended Figg School during grades K-8 and in 1941, Milly started at the Sunfield High School graduating in 1945. She earned her varsity letter in basketball and enjoyed playing softball in the Summer. After graduating, Milly worked on the family farm for 24 years before she went to work for Charlotte Wood Products. She retired in 1994. Milly enjoyed bowling and golfing. She bowled for over 40 years and was inducted into the Lake Odessa Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Milly is a member of the Mulliken Order of the Eastern Star, a regular patron of Swedes and was the 2014 Grand Marshall of the Sunfield Farmers Picnic. She took pride in her family and will be deeply missed. Milly was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Bernice Peabody and her brother, Nathan Peabody. Surviving is her sister-in-law, Joan Peabody; niece, Lesia (Kevin) Brummette; nephew, Mark (Kim) Peabody; six great-nieces and nephews, Matt (Angel) Brummette, Trent (Stephanie) Brummette, Chelsea (Tom) Campbell, Eric (Brittni) Brummette, Courtney (Steve) Waters and Nathan (Calli) Peabody; ten great-great-nieces and nephews. Milly was known as “Aunt Milly” to countless people and it is a safe bet that when someone hears the name “Aunt Milly” they have a fond memory and a good story to go with it. Funeral services 2 P.M. Thursday (January 9) at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Pastor Darrel Bosworth officiating. Interment will be in Sunfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
